November 23, 2013- Baltimore, MD
Hampden's Ham and Oyster Dinner
Hampden United Methodist Church
3449 Falls Road
Baltimore, Maryland 21211
Tickets are $17 and $18 for take out.
Hampden's Ham and Oyster Dinner is one of the oldest church dinners in the United States. For over 79 years the tradition of serving fried oysters and ham with all the fixings including stewed tomatoes, coleslaw, potato salad, green beans, roll, a large selection of homemade deserts and beverage included. The meal is served family style except extra oysters that are available, with an unlimited quantity, but with an additional charge. The passed down recipe is said to have come from Grimm’s Restaurant, which was located where the Bella Roma Restaurant is located now on Falls Road.
They have posted a video about on how they make their oysters! Fabulous!!
I have missed all of the fall oyster dinners this year and haven't been posting. I need to rectify this and perhaps attend this dinner tomorrow in Baltimore.
